Life at CVPC

Living the Gospel. Loving the Church. Reaching Our Neighbors.

community life

At CVPC, we believe that the Christian life flourishes in community. We’re designed to live in connection with one another, making it essential to embody the “one anothers” of Scripture as we witness to the world. This shared life is not only for our own edification, but also serves as a visible testimony to the grace of God in a fragmented world.

Whether through hospitality, service, prayer, or shared joys and burdens, our community life is meant to reflect the love and truth of Christ. As we gather in worship and go out into our daily lives, we aim to be a faithful presence in our neighborhoods—living out the Gospel in word and deed, and inviting others to see and experience the beauty of life in Christ.

our congregation

Our vibrant congregation is an intergenerational family, with over 80 children and youth worshiping alongside families, singles, retirees, and college students. We are passionate about rich Biblical teaching and recognize that the means of grace are vital for discipleship and deepening our relationship with the Lord. We see the variety of ages and life stages in our congregation as a gift, not a gap. In a world often divided by generational lines, we cherish the opportunity to learn from one another—where the wisdom of older saints meets the energy and curiosity of the young. Whether gathered around tables, in classrooms, or sharing life in living rooms, we are committed to fostering relationships that span generations, encouraging a shared pursuit of Christ that strengthens the whole body.

This vision shapes the way we structure ministry. From multigenerational fellowship meals known at CVPC as House-To-House to youth being mentored by older members, and children learning alongside adults in corporate worship, we seek to blur generational lines in healthy, intentional ways. Whether it’s small groups, Sunday discipleship classes, or service teams, our goal is to cultivate spaces where every age is both valued and formed—growing together in grace and truth.

GIFTS

We are blessed with a wide array of gifts—music, teaching, cooking, construction, administration, and more. Each person who joins us on Sundays is an important part of our worship, and we strive to identify and encourage the unique talents the Spirit has bestowed upon us. This intentionality shines through in our music worship.

The Lord has richly gifted our congregation in many ways, and we delight in seeing those gifts used to build up the body. While musical worship is a vital part of our life together, we also celebrate the many behind-the-scenes and hands-on ministries that reflect Christ’s love in practical ways. The “Serving Saints” ministry brings together men, women, and even children who offer their time and skills to assist others with home repairs and practical needs. Lay members and ministry leaders faithfully teach Sunday School, grounding our children and adults alike in God’s Word. And each week, the “Y’all Come Luncheon” provides not only a meal but a tangible expression of hospitality and fellowship, lovingly prepared and served by our kitchen ministry. All of these are beautiful pictures of the Spirit at work—equipping every member to serve one another in love.

outreach

CVPC is dedicated to creating a warm and welcoming environment, both within the church and through outreach events in our community. Our recently established food network provides monthly food boxes to those in need. Motivated by a growing understanding of God’s grace, we seek to serve as conduits of His love to others.

Our desire to be a faithful presence extends to several local partnerships and neighborhoods around us. We regularly connect with residents at Villa Way, building relationships through consistent care and practical support. Just across the street, we’re grateful for opportunities to serve Chattanooga Valley Elementary—most notably through our annual Trunk or Treat event, where we offer food, games, and a welcoming space for families to gather. We also support Ridgeland High School through various seasonal efforts and prayer. Whether through a shared meal, a friendly conversation, or tangible help, our hope is to be a light in the community—pointing others to the kindness of Christ in everyday ways.

fellowship opportunities

We believe in the importance of gathering as a church family. Here are some of the fellowship events at CVPC:
  • Growth Groups
  • Trunk or Treat
  • House to House Fellowship
  • Maundy Thursday Dinner
  • Vacation Bible School (VBS)
  • Church Family Retreat
  • Advent Breakfasts
  • Caroling
  • Missions Conference
Whether it’s our weekly “Y’all Come Luncheon,” seasonal gatherings like “Trunk or Treat”, Caroling, or fellowship in one another’s homes, we see these moments as an extension of the life we share in Christ. Through men’s and women’s studies, home Growth Groups, and regular times of prayer and encouragement, we seek to build one another up in love. These rhythms of life together deepen our unity, strengthen our witness, and reflect the beauty of belonging to God and to one another. “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together… but encouraging one another” (Hebrews 10:24–25).

We invite you to join us for these wonderful opportunities to connect and grow in community!
